Organ, Tissue & Eye Donation
Each day, 18 people in the United States will die while waiting for a life-saving organ transplant and every 10 minutes, another person’s name is added to the national transplant waiting list. More than 116,000 people are waiting for life-saving organs, and hundreds of thousands more hope for life-enhancing tissue transplants.
Over 8,000 individuals are waiting for a life-saving organ transplant in Pennsylvania.
ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app Health System and the help families through the difficult loss of a loved one while making the life-saving decision to help another individual in need. ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app Health System's Donor Advisory Committee is comprised of clinical and non-clinical staff who work together to ensure quality and safety of donors, honor loved ones lost, and educate employees and the general public about the importance of registering to be a donor.
The Center for Organ Recovery & Education (CORE) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting donation, education, and research for the purpose of saving and improving the quality of life through organ, tissue, and corneal transplantation. CORE serves counties in western Pennsylvania, West Virginia and a portion of New York. ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app Health System's hospitals are part of the CORE network of 155 hospitals, including five transplant centers.
The hospitals of ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app Health System have been repeatedly recognized by The Hospital & Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) and nationally by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) for organ, tissue, and eye donation awareness initiatives.
